Srinagar, March 23 (KNO) : Strongly condemning the banning of political activities in the disputed region, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Saturday said that Democracy is a distant dream in Kashmir where people are treated like cattle. The JKDFP spokesperson in a statement issued to KNO that banning of political activities has made the atmosphere of the region suffocative and people are compelled to shoulder the coffins on daily basis. Authorities have jailed leaders like JKDFP chairman Shabir Shah and people have been left at the mercy of the men in uniform who have been set free to silent the masses by using whatever means they like to use. The spokesperson strongly condemned the world forums for their silence on the Kashmir situation where even religious activities of people have been put under scanner and people are being stopped from performing their religious duties. It seems as if Kashmir is not the part of world community and Kashmiri people are not being considered as human beings, that is why the whole world has turned into a mute spectator and the genuine democratic rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir are being denied at institutional level. JKDFP Spokesperson appealed the human rights orgainsations world over to come forward and take practical measures for saving Kashmiri people from the wrath of the Indian forces, Indian investigation agencies and off course the Indian political leadership. Meanwhile, JKDFP expressed deep shock over the death of a minor boy during an encounter between militants and government forces in Hajin, Bandipora. The party expressed solidarity with the parents and close relatives of Atif and prayed for their patience.(KNO)
